Dough Bowl Trade-In Program

Dough Bowl Trade-In Program

Trade-In Program: Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose

We don't love the trash can, and we don't love landfills. Your dough bowl candle doesn't belong there - even it isn't in perfect condition anymore. If you're ready for a new candle, we offer a steep discount for a trade! And if you don't want a candle, dough bowls make excellent vessels for small items like keys, or can be repurposed for another use such as potpourri, or anything decorative.

Bring us back your gently loved dough bowl candle and select one of the following options for a trade:

  • 20% off ANY new candle (includes all dough bowl, jar, and tin candles)
  • Swap for a Basic, Clean Dough Bowl: At no cost, we will simply trade you for a clean, unused and unfinished dough bowl. This ensures that there is no wax or fragrance on the bowl, and you have a clean new vessel to use as your please.
  • Finished and Sealed Stained Wood Dough Bowl, color of your choice (no candle-vessel only) - $10
  • Custom Painted Dough Bowl - select from a painted style we have on hand, or contact us if you would like a quote on a design you have in mind. Price varies by detail and complexity. Final bowl is finished and sealed.

Condition of Dough Bowl Candles Accepted for Trade-In

  • Candle must NOT show any signs of having been burned.
  • Damage to wax, broken wax pieces, or scratches and marks to the bowl are acceptable.
  • If your dough bowl is severely damaged or significant amounts of the candle are missing, we reserve the right to refuse trade-in.
  • We reserve the right to refuse trade-in for any items of questionable origin (meaning- if we don't believe we produced the item).

What if I receive/gave the dough bowl candle as a gift?

As long as the dough bowl candle was made by us, it's accepted. No receipt or proof of purchase needed.

What happens to the old candle?

At our discretion, we may then either elect to perform some housekeeping on the original candle to bring it back to life so it can be enjoyed in another loving home, or we may simply melt out the old wax, clean up the bowl, and use it to create a new design. The ultimate decision depends on the condition of the item received, and the current market for the candle design.

Can't I just clean out my bowl myself?

Technically yes... but we don't encourage you to do so. Candle wax must be slowly melted using specialized heat tools, and properly disposed of. Trying to melt the wax out yourself could result in injury from burns, fire, and quite frankly - it makes a mess. Because the wax also becomes enmeshed with the wood, it's quite difficult to fully remove. We have gone an extra mile by giving you multiple options - including a completely FREE trade in - so that you don't attempt this in order to use the empty bowl.
